Thorshammer of Läby - Mjoelnir of the Viking age after an original find. Detail replica of a Thorshammer from Läby from the Swedish province of Uppland / Sweden near Uppsala. The Thorshammer of Läby has the dimensions 2.9 x 2 cm. The Thorshammer is made of bronze. A black leather strap in 1 m length is attached to the Mjoelnir of Läby. The Thors hammer was the weapon of the Viking God Thor, with whom he fought his enemies. The Thors hammer was therefore called Mjölnir among the Vikings, which means "crushing" or "lightning". In the 9th and 10th centuries, the Thors hammer enjoyed great popularity among the Vikings, as it was thus possible to dissociate itself from the emerging Christianity as an old believer. Interestingly, Thors hammer was especially saved in women's graves.
